There’s a strong chance that you’ve seen the spectacular postcard-like photos of the country’s beautiful islands, the famous white buildings in Athens or the beautiful blue waters of the sea and wished upon a star to see them for yourself someday.
Well, now is your chance.
There are many reasons that make Greece such a popular tourist destination: the warm weather, the beautiful beaches, the lush green countryside, the rich history and culture.

It’s very impossible to pick the nicest and most beautiful places to visit in Greece, but here are THE BEST that have made an indelible effect on me…
Mykonos
Mykonos is a popular island for its traditional culture, charming villages and stunning beaches. Since the 1950s it has been a popular destination for the European jet set due to its close proximity to mainland Greece and nearby islands. Today it is also a popular destination among celebrities and there is even a local newspaper, Mykonians daily, dedicated to photos of movie stars wearing bikinis on the island throughout the summer.
The whitewashed buildings are square and close together, providing a labyrinth of narrow passageways and streets that are very attractive. The lovely beaches on the island are also a great place to watch the sunset.

Santorini Island
So, what’s happening on Santorini these days? There’s been a lot of tourist activity especially in the summer months. Hotels are filled to capacity during July and August with many tourists visiting during Easter week.
For those who want to avoid the crowds, it is advised that you visit between September and May. Nowadays, there are countless options for hotels and restaurants. There’s something for everyone and that is why Santorini is considered to be a top destination for couples and honeymooners.
The restaurants offer romantic views of the azure blue water while serving delicious dishes along with the local wine which is out of this world. The traditional Greek dishes are one of the main attractions for tourists as they can experience a taste of Greece in Santorini.

Zakynthos
If you’re planning on visiting the southern parts of Greece, be sure to check out the gorgeous paradise of Zakynthos. Zakynthos is a gift of the Ionian Sea and is famous globally for its crystal clear blue waters, golden beaches, and nightlife.
Zakynthos offers lots of scenic outings, especially the Shipwreck Beach of Navagio in a secluded cove, including Banana, Porto Zoro, Kalamaki, Gerakas and more.
Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is one of the most popular holiday destinations for British people.

Rhodes
While the island has plenty to offer the tourist, the town of Rhodes is a very old city, rich in history and culture. The name Rhodes has changed throughout history, but it was a trading centre for many centuries and is now a popular holiday destination with a number of world-class resorts. Rhodes was built on a flat-topped mountain named “Mount Smith” which is still visible today, even in the very crowded town centre. To the east of the city lies a protected nature reserve called the Smith Mountain National Park.
Lindos and St. Pauls Beaches are two of the finest beaches in Rhodes to enjoy all day sun and swimming in the sea. The clean waters, the hinterland, the Lindos Castle and the view of Lindos town from afar, make this spot a must-see location when you visit Rhodes.

Naxos Island
This low-key island is one of the most spectacular places in the region. The massive Mt. Zeus and the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to Zeus make this a popular tourist destination in Naxos.
The most famous beach here, Agia Anna just north of Chora (the capital) has one of the best sunsets in Greece. This is also where you can find the Church of Saint Nicholas, another popular tourist attraction.

When people think of Greece, they think at once of the islands, of remote coves and wild cliffs and of perfect turquoise water. It’s all here, in abundance.
But the thing is that they are just the start. As a quick glance at a map demonstrates, Greece is an enormous, diverse country, with a wealth of history and culture and natural beauty that, in many cases, goes unrivalled elsewhere in Europe.
So, let’s take the first steps here.
